Research

Enterprise Systems are sociotechnical systems assembled from technological and non-technological components. InES is pursuing an interdisziplinary approach to its research and holistically contemplates Enterprise Systems regarding the focus areas lifecycle and innovative solutions. Our research is signed by method plurality and encorporates empirical studies based on qualitative and quantitative research methods. Also, our research includes design-oriented approaches to prototyping.

Withn the focus area "lifecycle", our research is dedicated to developing and managing enterprise system. Besides prospecting new methods and tools in realm of software development we also prospect development processes regarding different aspects, e.g. factors to successfully assemble development teams and the impact of collaboration between product management and design on the product's overall success. In the realm of enterprise system management we look at the framework necessary to successfully implement and use enterprise systems withing a company. Management comprises topics like outsourcing, offshoring and IT-Governance.

In our focal area "new concepts" we design next generation enterprise systems. Topics currently dealt with are the integration of social media into business processes, the use of semantic technologies in enterprise systems and business analytics.
